Gamers cancel Counter-Strike creator ‘Gooseman’ over crypto scam involvement
The gaming community has reacted with significant backlash following the debut of a new memecoin.
Minh “Gooseman” Le, the legendary co-creator of Counter-Strike, recently found himself under fire after his name became associated with what many fans labeled a “crypto scam.”
An anonymous entity launched a memecoin featuring Le’s brand, claiming that a percentage of the trading commissions would be funneled to him as a tribute for his work on the iconic FPS series.
Although Gooseman initially offered no resistance to the idea, the gaming community was swift to voice their outrage, accusing the developer of lending his credibility to a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme.
Gooseman quickly recognized the error in judgment regarding his tacit endorsement of the dubious project.
After issuing a public apology, he investigated the mechanics of the token and announced he would buy back the assets to lock them away permanently:
