Gamer Reports Losing Access to PlayStation 3 Account and Games Due to Inactivity

Several years later, a digital game collection has essentially turned into a pumpkin.

In late August, KONAMI released the game compilation Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. Against this backdrop, a gamer decided to revisit the original version of one installment in the franchise and ran into problems.

Virtualwears shared that he turned on his old PlayStation 3 console to play that very version of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots again. At first, the game would not launch, and he thought it simply could not be played offline.

However, he then realized things were much worse. He had not used his account for several years, so it was deactivated due to inactivity. Virtualwears explains that as a result, he lost access to his digital game collection.

Sony deleted my entire account due to inactivity. I hate Sony, and this made my hatred for them even stronger.

Now Virtualwears can play Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 on PC or on a modern console.

Some players are opposed to a complete transition to digital versions and are attempting to wage an “indefinite boycott” of the console and services to lower PlayStation’s online metrics.
