The Game of Thrones universe is set to make its grand cinematic debut. Warner Bros. is actively developing a feature film titled Aegon’s Conquest, which will chronicle one of the most pivotal chapters in the history of Westeros. While the project has been officially added to the studio’s theatrical slate for 2027 and beyond, a specific release date has yet to be finalized.

The narrative transports audiences approximately 300 years before the events of the original series, focusing on Aegon I Targaryen, the first king to unite Westeros. Alongside his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, Aegon embarks on a ruthless campaign to subjugate the Seven Kingdoms, bolstered by the terrifying power of his three dragons: Balerion the Black Dread, Vhagar, and Meraxes. This legendary crusade ultimately leads to the forging of the Iron Throne and the birth of a unified realm.

The screenplay is being penned by Beau Willimon, the mastermind behind House of Cards and a key writer for Andor. Although Aegon’s Conquest was initially conceived as a television spin-off, Warner Bros. ultimately pivoted, opting to bring this epic saga to the big screen.
