This Week in Dance: New Releases, Moves & Highlights

A roundup of the biggest moments and standout dance projects from the past week.

Fred again.. launched his first North American stop in the 10 shows / 10 songs / 10 cities run, while Dom Dolla told Billboard he’s thrilled — albeit a little dizzy from the pace — ahead of the ARIA Awards in Sydney on Nov. 19, where he received ARIA’s inaugural Global Impact Award presented by Spotify.

The Circuit Group introduced Circuit Capital, backed by over $500 million from Create Music Group, a fund designed to acquire catalogs, labels and publishers and to support music-driven enterprises with a long-term value focus.

In other news: Northern Irish rap trio Kneecap teamed up with Sub Focus on a surprise drum & bass single; The Chainsmokers extended their Wynn Nightlife residency in Las Vegas through 2029; and Calvin Harris has switched agencies from WME to Wasserman.

We spoke with Welsh producer Kelly Lee Owens about her new Kelly EP, and caught up with Billboard’s Dance Rookie of the Month, Kito, about co-executive producing Lily Allen’s album West End Girl.

Additional highlights include Charli XCX appearing as a fictionalized version of herself in a trailer for The Moment, Jessie Reyez earning her first Billboard No. 1 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay with Calvin Harris’s “Ocean,” and Harris being announced as a headliner for the college football national championship weekend alongside John Summit and Peso Pluma. Zeds Dead premiered a tasteful Channel Flipping 2 mashup video, and Robyn debuted “Dopamine” live at a Spotify x Acne Studios show at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles.

Skrillex — hit me where it hurts x

Skrillex returns with hit me where it hurts x, a compact five-track EP that complements April’s sprawling album. Many collaborators from the LP reappear — including isoXO, Dylan Brady and Nakeesha — but here the songs breathe more, extending beyond the bite-sized bursts of the previous record. The result is a nostalgic yet fresh set of reimagined cuts that channel the energy of Skrillex’s breakout era.

Major Lazer — Gyalgebra

Major Lazer’s Gyalgebra — a playful nod to “girl math” — is the group’s first full-length since 2020 and the first project following America Foster joining the collective. Over nine tracks the mixtape leans into classic Caribbean rhythms while exploring a range of tones: club-ready bangers, eerie grooves and even a moment with metal-tinged aggression. Featured collaborators include Parris Goebel, Tokischa, Bunji Garlin and Busy Signal.

Laidback Luke — Code/Red

Laidback Luke’s Code/Red EP feels like a reinvigoration — a statement of intent after years in the scene. The six-track collection gathers previously released singles such as the blog-house-tinged “It Clicked” and the electro punch of “Sippin,” alongside a spirited edit of James Brown’s classic made with Brown’s grandson. Luke calls this his “year of rebellion,” a reclamation of the fire that inspired his earliest breakthrough.

Parris Goebel — A Girl Is a Drug

Choreographer-turned-artist Parris Goebel’s debut EP A Girl Is a Drug is bold, confident and stylistically sharp. Executive produced by Kito, the collection showcases Goebel’s commanding presence — a swaggering mix of production and performance that echoes the kinetic energy she brings to work for major pop acts.

Kasablanca — Higher Resolution

Kasablanca’s debut album Higher Resolution, released on Anjunabeats, further cements the duo’s reputation for lush, cinematic dance music. The 12-track set blends disco, electro and French touch with a nod to Moroder-style grandeur, producing a refined, emotionally charged journey that’s as dancefloor-ready as it is sophisticated.

Tiësto — “Bring Me to Life”

Returning to his trance roots, Tiësto’s “Bring Me to Life” — featuring vocals from Fors — is a soaring, urgent single that signals a renewed focus on the genre. Sub Focus — Contact

UK drum & bass stalwart Sub Focus returns with Contact, his first studio album since 2023’s Evolve. The 14-track record, featuring collaborators like Grimes, John Summit and Fireboy DML, fuses drum & bass with trance, electro and dancehall influences — a robust celebration of the genre as Sub Focus marks two decades in the scene.
