Two of MultiVersus’s lead developers, Justin Fischer and Brock Feldman, have launched their own studio, Airlock Games. Previously serving as production director and technical director, they decided to start fresh following the closure of PlayerFirst Games.
Fischer and Feldman are drawing on their work on large-scale projects such as Disney Infinity and Medal of Honor to assemble a small, focused team aimed at creating more compact games. Their objective is to deliver titles faster and avoid the prolonged, costly cycles associated with AAA development.
Airlock Games’ inaugural project, What the Stars Forgot, is a management simulator infused with horror elements, inspired by Star Trek and John Carpenter’s The Thing. Presented in a 16‑bit aesthetic, the game is expected to enter Steam Early Access in late 2025.
After years spent on big-budget productions, the founders want to return to creative exploration and risk-taking — pursuits they say have become uncommon in contemporary game development.
