With the film scheduled to open on April 3, 2026, details about The Super Mario Galaxy Movie remain surprisingly scarce. Nintendo released a brief teaser showing Mario asleep against a backdrop of the Mushroom Kingdom and Princess Peach’s castle, but aside from that clip there’s been little official information—until a new packaging reveal surfaced.

Pillsbury — yes, the cookie dough brand — inadvertently offered a clearer look at Yoshi’s appearance for the upcoming movie. Packaging artwork posted online reveals a stylized Yoshi alongside an egg-shaped cookie bearing his familiar green-and-white pattern.

First spotted on X by Wario64, the image depicts Mario soaring through a starry field while Yoshi stands beside the themed cookie; the box’s reverse shows Mario riding Yoshi with an observatory visible in the background.

Yoshi’s physical absence from the first live-action Super Mario Bros. film was notable: an egg decorated in Yoshi’s colors was presented to Bowser and Peach during their wedding ceremony, and only in the post-credits sequence did the egg begin to crack and Yoshi’s name get called out. That brief tease suggested a larger role to come, and these new images make Yoshi’s presence in the next movie far more likely.

Fingers crossed the character’s on-screen portrayal resonates better with audiences than some past interpretations — notably the 1993 live-action Super Mario Bros. adaptation, which divided fans and critics alike.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie opens in theaters on April 3, 2026.
