HBO Max has unveiled the first official look at its upcoming detective thriller Struwwelpeter. The project is spearheaded by the visionary creative duo Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, the masterminds behind the globally acclaimed sci-fi hit Dark.
Leading the cast is Dark alumna Lisa Vicari. The narrative follows a determined investigator on the trail of a serial killer who draws macabre inspiration from the 1845 children’s book “Struwwelpeter”—a collection of cautionary poems originally penned by German psychiatrist Heinrich Hoffmann for his son.
Filming is currently underway in Germany, though an official release date remains under wraps. Odar and Friese are widely recognized for their atmospheric storytelling, having previously created the three-season Netflix phenomenon Dark and the mind-bending mystery 1899.
