Firaxis Makes Amends: Free DLC and Major Update Released for Civilization 7
A free DLC for Civilization 7 is now available, and it’s just one part of the upcoming updates. The Tides of Power expansion can be claimed free of charge until January 5, 2026. Players can access the first installment featuring the Pirate Republic, with the next phase scheduled for December.
Firaxis is working to restore the game’s reputation after a lukewarm reception on Steam, since Civilization 7’s average rating still sits below 50%. In a recent video the developers outlined rebalanced interactions between civilizations and changes to naval combat. The update adds a new building, a new combat unit, and an improved system for sea battles.
Firaxis also confirmed it is testing a new mode in which a single civilization advances through every era.
