Final Fantasy VII Revelation Will Let Players Select Hard Mode From the Start, Director Naoki Hamaguchi Says
Final Fantasy VII Revelation may become the hardest entry in the series, as Square Enix prepares a hardcore difficulty option available from the start
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will let players choose a high difficulty level from their first playthrough. After they finish the story, the game will offer additional challenges, including battles against powerful Weapons.
In Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth, the hard mode unlocked only after players completed the main story. Square Enix is now changing that approach. According to director Naoki Hamaguchi, the studio wants to make combat more challenging without limiting players with artificial restrictions.
The advanced combat system supports tactical techniques, combined abilities, and the FITS mechanic. A dynamic mode will also return, similar to the hard mode in previous games, with leveled-up characters and strong enemies.
The extra battles against powerful Weapons will be available during the first playthrough, not just on a repeat run.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The release is expected in about six months.
