Athanasia Developers Offer Alternative to Dino Crisis
Momentum Games has released Athanasia in Steam early access. The horror game is inspired by Dino Crisis and follows a heroine who must survive prehistoric predators in an abandoned research complex in South America.
Capcom has shown no hurry to bring back Dino Crisis. Meanwhile, Athanasia offers dinosaur combat in an abandoned research facility, drawing on a classic of the genre.
Players take the role of researcher Carmen Flores, who is sent to a mysterious facility in South America. People are disappearing there, unexplained events are taking place, and prehistoric predators have overrun the corridors. She must uncover the secret behind the experiments and stay alive.
The developers at Momentum Games drew inspiration from Dino Crisis and System Shock. Besides combat, the game puts a strong focus on exploring the complex, finding secret passages, collecting gear, and gathering audio logs left by former employees.
Athanasia is now available on PC in early access. Development is ongoing, and the date of the full release is not yet known.
