Sony Hints at Acquiring Rights to a Game, Possibly Expanding PlayStation Studios
A new PlayStation ad featuring Lisa and a limited-edition DualSense controller suggests that Sony may have quietly acquired Ember Lab or the rights to its new game.
The ad hints that Sony may have secretly bought Ember Lab, the studio behind Kena: Scars of Kosmora. There is no official confirmation of a deal.
The Sony Interactive Entertainment video promotes a collaboration with Thai singer Lisa and a limited-edition DualSense controller, and it also shows PlayStation games. Viewers spotted Kena: Scars of Kosmora among them, with a note saying the game is SIE intellectual property.
The note could be a mistake on Sony’s part. Reddit users found a document indicating that Ember Lab is still an independent studio and that it owns the rights to the game. However, the registration is dated March 2026, so the data may not yet reflect a possible deal.
Earlier reports said Kena: Scars of Kosmora will launch on PS5 and PC in 2027.
