Dark Souls II Dataminer Finds Large Coliseum and Underground Level With Tower
Several notable locations were planned for Dark Souls II at some stage of development.
Dark Souls II continues to surprise players many years after its release. Dataminer Doneda recently published a video exploring unusual locations, and he found unused levels in the game files.
Doneda did not use the original Dark Souls II for the exploration. He used the newer Elden Ring Nightreign instead. He loaded the surviving remnants of the levels into that game and gave players a virtual tour.
Doneda found an area with a coliseum, along with an underground level featuring a strange “underground tower.” Some of the level fragments he found may have formed one large location. These places may have been connected to the Undead Crypt location.

This is far from the first time unused material has turned up in FromSoftware game files. Some of these assets may appear in reworked form in future projects. Modders may also try to finish such locations themselves, since advances in AI tools have strengthened the modding scene.
