Principal photography has concluded on the eight-part drama adaptation of Alexander Pushkin’s classic novella, “The Captain’s Daughter.”
The narrative remains faithful to the original source material: sixteen-year-old Pyotr Grinev (played by Oleg Savostyuk) is dispatched to the remote Belogorsky Fortress, where he finds himself falling for Masha (Evgeniya Leonova), the commandant’s daughter, all while being swept up in the chaos of the Pugachev Rebellion. Yevgeny Tkachuk takes on the role of Yemelyan Pugachev. The production team aims to bridge the gap between the era’s sensibilities and contemporary audience expectations, promising a nuanced psychological depth that honors the literary legacy of Russia’s most celebrated poet.
The series is helmed by director Dmitry Litvinenko, best known for his work on “Give Me a Show.” The premiere is scheduled to air on the KION streaming platform.
