Actress Maika Monroe hinted that production on the second installment of the horror film It Comes for You may be about to start.
“Fingers crossed it happens next year,” Monroe said in an interview with DiscussingFilm.
She also described the screenplay as “incredible.” The sequel will be titled They Follow (They Come for You). NEON will handle U.S. distribution. The first reports of a follow-up emerged in the autumn of 2023. David Robert Mitchell is set to return as director.
It Comes for You premiered in 2014. The story centers on a young woman, Jay (Monroe), who, following a sexual encounter, begins to experience unsettling visions and becomes convinced she is being watched.
Shot on a $1.3 million budget, the film went on to gross $23.3 million worldwide and later became one of the most notable and recognizable independent horror films of the 2010s.
