Filming Has Wrapped on the ‘It Follows’ Sequel

Production has officially wrapped on They Follow, the long-awaited direct sequel to the 2014 cult horror hit It Follows.

David Robert Mitchell (Under the Silver Lake) has returned to helm the project, having penned the screenplay as well. Maika Monroe reprises her lead role, starring alongside a cast that includes Naomi Ackie, Michael Gandolfini, and Jackie Earle Haley, among others.

The narrative of this follow-up picks up a decade after the harrowing events of the original film. While specific plot details remain under wraps, NEON is tentatively planning to bring the movie to theaters in 2027.

The original It Follows centered on a young college student (Monroe) stalked by a relentless, shape-shifting entity following a sexual encounter. The film became a breakout success, grossing $23 million against a modest $1.3 million budget and eventually achieving legendary status within the horror genre.
