The first behind-the-scenes photograph from the set of They Follow, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2014 horror hit It Follows, has surfaced online.
Maika Monroe (Longlegs) is set to reprise her lead role. She will be joined by an ensemble cast featuring Naomi Ackie (Mickey 17), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), Justine Lupe (Succession), and Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark), among others.
David Robert Mitchell returns to both write and direct the feature. They Follow marks his first project shot entirely on 35mm film. The film is currently slated for a 2027 release through NEON.
Plot details remain under wraps, though the narrative is expected to pick up a decade after the events of the original movie. The first installment followed a college student (Monroe) tormented by lethal, shapeshifting entities after a sexual encounter. That film became a breakout success, grossing $23 million worldwide against a modest $1.3 million budget.
