Principal photography for the next chapter of the hit series “Shōgun” has officially commenced in Vancouver, Canada, according to industry reports.
FX is slated to premiere the second season in 2027, with Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis reprising their celebrated roles. The narrative for the sophomore season will reportedly leap forward ten years from where the debut season concluded. The ensemble cast also features Fumi Nikaido, Shinnosuke Abe, Hiroto Kanai, Ryo Sato, and Seishiro Nishida.
Based on James Clavell’s seminal novel, the series is set against the volatile backdrop of 17th-century feudal Japan. The plot follows English navigator John Blackthorne (Jarvis) as he aligns himself with the formidable Lord Toranaga (Sanada) during a period of treacherous civil war and shifting clan loyalties.
The first season of “Shōgun” debuted in February 2024 to critical acclaim, etching its name in television history by securing a record-breaking 18 Emmy Awards.
