Production has officially kicked off in Italy for Netflix’s live-action series adaptation of the iconic Assassin’s Creed video game franchise.
Fresh plot details have also surfaced: the narrative is set in 64 AD Rome under the volatile reign of Emperor Nero. This era is defined by the Great Fire of Rome, a catastrophe that leveled much of the city, providing a dramatic backdrop for the escalating shadow war between clandestine organizations with diametrically opposed ideologies.
The ensemble cast features an impressive lineup, including Toby Wallace, Lola Kirke, Noomi Rapace, Claes Bang, Sean Harris, and Nabhaan Rizwan. Spearheading the project are showrunners Robert Patino (Westworld) and David Wiener (Halo). While anticipation continues to mount, an official premiere date has yet to be announced.
