Fan-Made Diablo Remake Released With Ray Tracing and Online Co-Op Support
Classics have returned in an updated format.
Diablo II: Resurrected was released several years ago. While many players enjoyed the updated ARPG, some fans also wanted to see a remake of the first installment in the franchise. An enthusiast recently satisfied that demand. Troygentic has introduced a special version of DevilutionX, which is an open-source port of the original Diablo. The developer added HD textures and ray-traced lighting to his unofficial “Diablo 1 Remake HD Graphics” project.
Players will be able to experience Diablo 1 Remake HD Graphics alone or in online co-op. In addition, players can import sound packs from their own copies of Diablo II or Diablo II: Resurrected. The archive itself does not contain copyrighted materials, meaning a copy of Diablo is still required. Troygentic suggests that players use the GOG version or the Battle.net version.
Troygentic published the “damnationx” source code publicly on GitHub. The project can also be run in a browser.

Previously, a full first-person view mode was created for the original Diablo. That project was also based on DevilutionX.
