Street Fighter Movie Adaptation to Feature Anime Flashbacks Inspired by Akira and Ghost in the Shell
Only one week remains until the premiere of the new Street Fighter movie.
The new Street Fighter adaptation will feature animated flashbacks created in the style of classic Japanese anime. Studio Titmouse is handling their production, drawing inspiration from Akira and Ghost in the Shell.
According to director Kitao Sakurai, the hand-drawn sequences will help explore the characters’ pasts. Viewers will see how Ryu and Ken trained together, what led to the fallout between them, and the background of Akuma.

The character designs in the anime inserts are based on the appearances of the actors who play the respective roles in the film. They also voice their characters: Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, and Roman Reigns as Akuma.
The main action of the film will take place in 1993. Chun-Li will bring the estranged Ryu and Ken together to participate in the World Warrior tournament, which conceals a dangerous conspiracy.
The film will premiere on October 16, 2026.
