Developers Find Method to Run PS5 Games on PC Without Emulation
PlayStation 5 games could run on PCs without traditional emulation as the AnyPS5 project has translated all 1,166 of the console’s GPU instructions, although running games fully is still a long way off.
The AnyPS5 project aims to enable native execution of PlayStation 5 games on Windows and Linux. To achieve this, it leverages the architectural similarities between the console’s processor and modern PCs, translating graphics instructions into the SPIR-V format supported by Vulkan.
The developers have finished working on all shader instructions for the Oberon graphics chip, which is based on the RDNA 2 architecture. The next phase focuses on supporting the console’s system libraries.
At present, 2,573 out of 3,034 libraries have been translated, representing 84.81 percent. Another 461 libraries still need to be processed.

Even after this work concludes, compatibility with specific games will need to be tested. For now, AnyPS5 cannot be considered a ready-to-use method for playing PS5 games on a computer.
