Starfield Modder Creates Seamless Planet Landings Solo
Players will be able to turn on autopilot or land the ship manually.
People who have played Starfield have criticized Bethesda Game Studios for many things. One of the key issues has been the numerous loading screens that disrupt immersion in the game world.
Long before the release of the space action RPG, Hello Games demonstrated in No Man’s Sky that such a project could feature seamless planetary landings. Ever since release, Starfield players have urged Bethesda Game Studios to implement seamless planetary takeoffs and landings, but the developers have failed to do so over the past years.
Various attempts are instead being made by enthusiasts. Modder Frederik Wessberg recently shared his progress and talked about his project:
I’ve been working on this for about half a year, and it’s finally starting to look and feel ready enough to show you! The mod will add seamless planetary and lunar landings to Starfield without loading screens.
The modder explained that players will be able to land entirely on autopilot. While the ship flies from orbit to the surface, players can leave the pilot seat, walk freely around the ship, or admire the views. Manual ship control will also be available.
During landing, the ship will fly “through real 3D layers of volumetric clouds driven by climate data and weather systems.” Thunderstorms, lightning, and other effects will be visible.

Frederik Wessberg plans to publish the seamless planetary landing modification for Starfield on Nexus Mods, and the project will be available for free.
