The film distribution company Volga has announced the theatrical release of an extended cut of the horror feature “The Backrooms.”
This expanded version, which includes an additional 16 minutes of footage, is set to hit screens on July 9, bringing the total runtime to 2 hours and 13 minutes. Fans will also be treated to an exclusive post-credits scene crafted by director Kane Parsons.
Since its premiere in May, A24’s “The Backrooms” has achieved significant success, raking in $350 million at the global box office, with Russian audiences contributing 656 million rubles to that total.
Based on Parsons’ viral creepypasta and popular web series, the film explores a mysterious and unsettling liminal space. The project features standout performances from Oscar nominees Renate Reinsve and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
