Extended Version of ‘The Backrooms’ to Be Released in the U.S
A24 is extending the theatrical run of its hit horror sensation, The Backrooms.
Starting July 3, U.S. audiences will have the opportunity to experience an enhanced version of the film, titled the “Everything Must Go Edition.” According to reports, this updated cut features 15 minutes of never-before-seen footage, along with exclusive post-credits content helmed by director Kane Parsons.
Since its premiere in late May, The Backrooms has become a monumental success for A24, grossing $330 million worldwide and setting new records for the studio. The film is a cinematic adaptation of the viral creepypasta and web-series phenomenon created by Parsons.
The story plunges viewers into a surreal, liminal dimension that defies the laws of reality. The film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve. In Russia, the movie proved to be a major box-office draw, earning 593 million rubles.
