Evan Rachel Wood has been tapped to play the lead in Shards, a new series from showrunner Ryan Murphy. The project is an adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’s novel of the same name and will be produced by FX.
Set against the backdrop of 1981 Los Angeles, Shards follows Ellis, a high‑school senior whose character is loosely based on the author. During his final year, Ellis crosses paths with a mysterious new student whose arrival coincides with a spate of brutal killings sweeping the city.
The ensemble also includes Wes Bentley, Kaia Gerber, Igby Rigney, Hayes Warner and others. Max Winkler will direct the series; he previously helmed Monster.
