We are delighted to unveil the official launch of Update 1.58 for Euro Truck Simulator 2, now live on Steam. This release brings a wealth of new features and refinements tailored specifically for our incredible community.

Before diving into the details, we want to extend our gratitude to everyone who participated in the Open Beta. Your bug reports and constructive feedback on our official forums were instrumental in ensuring a stable and polished final release.
Driving Academy: Mastering Double Trailers
This update expands the Driving Academy with a specialized module: Double Trailer Handling. Our goal was to provide drivers with practical, hands-on knowledge for managing the unique challenges of “doubles.” Through a series of carefully crafted scenarios, you will learn the nuances of forward driving, intricate maneuvering, and the complex art of reversing with two trailers.
The curriculum is organized into three distinct chapters. It begins with fundamental forward movements before progressing to technical reversing maneuvers. Finally, you will face real-world-inspired challenges designed to push your newfound expertise to the limit.

As a token of achievement, completing all scenarios in this module unlocks Frankie—a charming dachshund cabin accessory ready to accompany you on your travels. Note that this reward is linked to your specific in-game profile. For a deeper dive into this module, check out the full details here.

Additionally, based on community input, we have adjusted the “Nerd of the Road” achievement. You now only need to secure a three-star rating in 15 scenarios (down from 23) to unlock it. However, the prestigious golden traffic cone accessory still requires a perfect three-star sweep across every scenario.
A Modern Refresh for the Renault Trucks T
The Renault Trucks T has undergone a significant modernization. We have introduced two contemporary interiors—Anthracite and Carbon 2024—equipped with state-of-the-art digital dashboards and camera-based mirrors. Performance is also upgraded with the addition of the DE13 Turbo Compound engines (440hp and 480hp Euro 6e variants).

Visual enthusiasts will appreciate the new Smart Racer liveries and an array of redesigned exterior components for the base truck and the Renault Tuning Pack. Highlights include eight updated front grilles, fresh DE13 badging, and customizable paint options for THE BOSS roof grilles.

Advanced Customization for Scania R & S
Update 1.58 brings comprehensive customization suites to the Scania R and S models, including new options for the Mighty Griffin Tuning Pack. Front bumpers now feature three distinct sizes and finishes. Lighting setups have also been decoupled, allowing you to mix and match bumper lights and the new fog light variants with greater freedom.

Other additions include front fenders with integrated radar systems, customizable cab steps, and versatile rear fender covers. You can also illuminate your rig with new roof lights, V8-specific lighting, and a striking underlit front logo.

IVECO S-Way: New 6×2 Chassis
The IVECO S-Way fleet expands with the arrival of a 6×2 chassis, complete with a steerable and liftable middle axle. This update also includes miscellaneous bug fixes and optimizations to ensure the S-Way remains a top-tier choice for heavy hauling.

Infrastructural Preparations for Coaches
To support the upcoming Coaches DLC, we have begun integrating bus-specific infrastructure into the map. Sharp-eyed drivers will notice new signage, road markings, and significantly expanded bus terminals in several cities, laying the groundwork for future passenger transport gameplay.

Refined Vehicle Physics & Simulation
As we look toward the future with “Road Trip” and “Coaches” content, we have overhauled our physics engine. This deep-level recalibration improves how vehicles interact with the environment, react to control inputs, and handle collisions. While these changes were necessary for lighter vehicle types, they bring a more refined, authentic feel to the trucks you already drive.

Key enhancements include more realistic throttle response based on engine torque maps and natural coasting behavior. Mechanical details such as axle camber and caster on uneven terrain add a subtle but effective layer of immersion. Audio feedback has also been tuned, with turbocharger sounds now dynamically reflecting engine load.

Drivers can also expect engines to rev naturally to build torque when starting from a standstill, supported by a new hill start assistant. For keyboard users, an optional double-tap throttle system allows for smoother cruising. Read more about these physics changes here.
Redesigned User Interface: Route Advisor & Quick Info
Update 1.58 marks a major shift in UI design. The traditional Route Advisor has been replaced by a modern, widget-based system. Information is now distributed across individual graphical elements that you can customize to fit your preferred driving style, allowing for a cleaner and more modular HUD.

The old Pause Screen has been transformed into the Quick Info feature. This centralized hub provides immediate access to essential data, including truck status, job details, and local traffic laws. This reorganization keeps the main screen uncluttered while keeping vital information just one button press away. In multiplayer, Convoy users can access this screen seamlessly by pressing F1.

Management & Configurator Improvements
We’ve polished our management screens—Driver, Trailer, Truck, and Garage—to enhance clarity and ease of use. You can now track hired driver skill progress more effectively, with current training focuses highlighted in the overview. General UX/UI improvements make corporate management tasks faster and more intuitive.

The Truck Configurator has also been refined for better controller and mouse navigation. A highly requested “Apply to All Compatible” feature has been added for wheel accessories, allowing you to synchronize the colors of bolts, nuts, and hubs across all wheels simultaneously.

These systemic updates are part of our long-term commitment to evolving Euro Truck Simulator 2, ensuring the core game remains robust for the exciting content we have planned for the future.
