Euro Truck Simulator 2 update 1.54: changes after the open beta

Comment Views: 10

The open beta for Euro Truck Simulator 2 update 1.54 began on 27 February 2025. SCS Software released the final build on 1 April, so the old instructions for selecting Steam’s public_beta branch no longer describe the current release. The main beta features moved into the stable update: a new cargo-data structure, a unified truck adjustment menu, PhysX and additions to Driving Academy.

Redefined cargo data

Many cargo and trailer combinations had previously been stored as separate prebuilt models. Version 1.54 instead lets the game assemble compatible pairs from rules. A cargo definition specifies its model, loading method and lashing method, while the appropriate trailer is handled separately. SCS said the structure reduced duplicate models and their disk and memory requirements. The same work also made new cargo easier to prepare and created a base for dynamic loading and unloading.

Cab adjustment and physics

The F4 menu brought the driver’s position, field of view and mirror controls into one interface. Keyboard users can navigate with WASD and make precise changes through sliders and buttons. On a controller, the left stick changes values, the right stick moves the camera while mirrors are positioned, and the D-pad or shoulder buttons move between settings.

PhysX became the default engine for low-level physics. SCS linked the switch to more accurate contact between vehicles, obstacles and Driving Academy objects. Version 1.54 retained the -bullet launch argument for players who needed the earlier Bullet implementation.

Driving Academy additions

Driving Academy received scenarios for the Volvo FH Series 5, Volvo FH Series 6 and Iveco S-Way. Completing every scenario in the first module awards a blue traffic-cone cabin accessory and a customizable Driving Academy truck paint job in the main game.
