The debut cinematic introduces a lone traveler aboard a spacecraft, seemingly on a homeward journey to Earth. However, the mission is violently derailed when the vessel is ensnared by a cosmic rift. After being pulled through a shimmering wormhole, the protagonist endures a harrowing crash-landing on a hostile, alien world. The landscape is immediately recognizable as a nightmare, populated by bizarre organisms and grotesque, humanoid abominations that suggest the series’ signature body horror is reaching new heights.
While the trailer offers more atmosphere than concrete gameplay details, expectations are understandably high. Both The Forest and its successor, Sons of the Forest, established themselves as benchmarks in the survival genre, earning a massive following for their deep crafting systems and unsettling environmental storytelling. This third entry appears poised to take that tension into an even more surreal, extraterrestrial setting.
