Dragon Quest VII Reimagined to receive a demo version on January 7
The sprawling role-playing classic Dragon Quest VII is poised for a grand return in a completely modernized form. To build momentum ahead of its launch, Square Enix has officially announced an upcoming playable demo.
Starting January 7, the Dragon Quest VII Reimagined demo will be accessible to players on consoles and PC via Steam.
Progress made during the trial will carry over, allowing players to pick up right where they left off when the full version launches. Furthermore, those who see the demo through to the end will be rewarded with the exclusive “Day Off Dress” bonus costume for Maribel. This approach highlights Square Enix’s commitment to providing high-value previews for their fan base.
Dragon Quest VII is legendary for its monumental scope, specifically catering to aficionados of deep, long-form RPGs. For context, the original PlayStation iteration was a massive undertaking, typically requiring between 80 and 120 hours to see the credits roll.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is scheduled to launch on February 5, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam).
