Dragon Quest VII Reimagined — Game Informer cover

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is the focus of the newest Game Informer cover package. The digital edition published November 4, 2025 is available now, with print copies scheduled to arrive in mailboxes next month. Our coverage — which includes hands-on time at Square Enix’s Shibuya office and interviews with the development leads — begins today.

During our conversation with producer Takeshi Ichikawa, he outlined several changes to the main scenario for this remake — Square Enix’s follow-up to the original U.S. release of Dragon Quest VII in 2001 and the 3DS version from 2016. One of the most intriguing updates is the inclusion of an alternate ending: depending on certain player decisions, Reimagined can conclude with a brand-new finale that wasn’t present in earlier editions.

Ichikawa told us the remake preserves the core story but adds narrative branches tied to player choices, offering longtime fans an opportunity to experience fresh moments even if they know the original tale. He declined to reveal many specifics about the new conclusion, so we’ll have to wait to learn more.
