Dragon Quest Creators Announce 4X Strategy Game Conquista

Conquista: Tide of Wills is a new 4X strategy game from Japanese studio MicroSimulation, developed with support from Shueisha Games, where every resident possesses their own individual consciousness.

Creators associated with Dragon Quest have introduced the strategy game Conquista: Tide of Wills, which combines city-building simulation and 4X mechanics so that every inhabitant features their own life, relationships, and ambitions.

Japanese studio MicroSimulation is handling development, and Shueisha Games plans to release the title on PC in the summer of 2027. Players will begin with a small village and gradually transform it into a state by gathering resources, building houses and roads, and developing industry and economics.

The standout feature will be the residents. Each person receives a name, profession, relationships, consciousness, and personal ambitions. They will work, visit shops and taverns, travel, and influence societal development. For instance, a soldier who loses a family during an attack might seek revenge against invaders.

At the same time, residents will not always obey the ruler. They will be able to explore new territories, merchants can cross borders, and groups of citizens can establish their own settlement and declare independence. Rebellions, shifting borders, and alliances are also possible.

The project started as a solo development effort by Nagehiro Enatsu and evolved into a full-fledged game several years later with support from Shueisha Games.
