Does Resident Evil Have a Post-Credits Scene
Zach Cregger brings his filmmaking background from Barbarian and Weapons to Capcom’s survival-horror franchise with his new movie. The story follows an ordinary medical courier played by Austin Abrams who encounters terror in and around Raccoon City.
Modern cinematic universes have conditioned audiences to wait through the credits for a teaser, Easter egg, or sequel setup. Given that the franchise contains decades of game lore and Umbrella operatives, viewers might expect a secret ending.
Does Resident Evil have a post-credits scene?
Resident Evil does not include a post-credits scene. Unlike Na Hong-Jin’s Hope, which featured a mid-credits scene showing a character’s fate, Cregger’s movie leaves out mid-credits scenes entirely. Once the credits begin, viewers can leave.
Do the other Resident Evil movies have post-credits scenes?
Past films in the franchise treated credits inconsistently. The 2002 original lacks a traditional mid- or post-credits scene, but plays an audio snippet during the credits where Rain Ocampo played by Michelle Rodriguez says, “When we get out of here, I think I’m gonna get laid.” Resident Evil: Afterlife features a scene during the credits involving Jill Valentine.
The 2021 reboot Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City includes a mid-credits scene with Albert Wesker and Ada Wong, though it lacks an extra scene at the very end. Cregger’s film avoids these traditions by omitting credit scenes altogether.
