Disney has officially terminated its partnership with OpenAI. This decision follows the discontinuation of Sora, the artificial intelligence application designed for high-end video generation.
While the specific motives behind this move remain undisclosed, Disney had invested $1 billion in OpenAI last December. That deal was intended to allow Sora users to generate original content featuring iconic characters from the studio’s vast library of animated and live-action films.
Disney’s leadership emphasized that the company remains open to collaborating with AI platforms, provided they maintain a “responsible approach to emerging technologies that honors intellectual property and protects the rights of creators.”
