Approaching its tenth anniversary, Discord Nitro has undergone significant transformations. While its current subscription tiers prioritize enhancements like high-fidelity streaming, expanded emoji libraries, and deeper customization, they previously included a rotating selection of complimentary games—a perk phased out in 2019. Today, Discord announced a strategic pivot to reintroduce gaming benefits through a new collaboration with Xbox.
Detailed in a recent company blog post, this initiative is dubbed “Nitro Rewards.” Discord frames this as the inaugural rollout of a program designed to add tangible value for its premium subscribers, with promises of further perks in the future.
The headline feature is access to a curated “starter version” of Xbox Game Pass. This offering—which mirrors the scope of Game Pass Essential—grants subscribers access to a library of over 50 titles spanning both PC and console. While this is a smaller selection compared to the standard libraries found in higher-tier Game Pass memberships, it serves as a compelling, value-added benefit included at no extra cost for existing Nitro members.

Beyond the Game Pass access, Nitro Rewards introduces a rotating lineup of exclusive discounts from hardware partners, including up to 30% off at Logitech G, 15% off SteelSeries gear, and 20% off KontrolFreek accessories. Furthermore, subscribers will benefit from a monthly injection of bonus Orbs and an accelerated “Orb multiplier” for completing platform quests. Discord notes that these features are being distributed gradually over the coming weeks.
In a reciprocal move, Xbox Wire confirmed that the partnership flows both ways: active Game Pass subscribers will soon receive select Discord perks. These include a monthly allotment of 250 Discord Orbs, a 1.2x boost to Orb earnings via quests, and automatic access to specific Discord Shop discounts.
This news follows other notable shifts in the Xbox ecosystem, including a recent price adjustment for Game Pass Ultimate and the official confirmation that Copilot AI will not be integrated into consoles.
