Since we’ve just rolled out a major update, we are skipping the usual development video this week. Instead, we want to walk you through how our team has processed your recent feedback and outline the strategic direction we’ve set for the coming months.

One significant shift within our studio is a restructuring of our internal workflow. Rather than isolating bug fixing to a specific department, every member of our development team is now actively contributing to both general stabilization and the refinement of the core systems detailed below.

Our goal is straightforward: to eliminate bugs, fortify existing mechanics, and ensure that every system interacts with seamless reliability, resulting in an experience that feels as authentic and grounded as life itself.

- Implement a feature to capture and archive family photos.

- Deepen the mechanics surrounding family bonds and interpersonal dynamics.
- Introduce customizable family presets.
- Allow for the integration of new family members during active gameplay.
Conversations, Personality & Emotions
- Refine dialogue to better align with specific situational contexts.
- Expand and diversify conversational choices.
- Introduce a system where character traits evolve based on their personal values.
- Overhaul and enhance the Aspiration and Expectations systems.
- Introduce a broader array of personality traits and increase the maximum limit per character.
- Develop the new “Donut Trait” specialization framework.
- Add unique aspirations tailored specifically for children.
- Polish emotional expressions and associated animations.
Life, Careers & Daily Activities
- Optimize mealtime behaviors and expand the recipe catalog.
- Introduce a comprehensive ingredient-based cooking mechanic.
- Improve item persistence to prevent unnecessary auto-cleaning.
- Expand career progression and introduce professional milestones.
- Enhance Smart Zoi behavior and provide top graduates with competitive job interview advantages.
Skills, Furniture & Content
- Improve the overall skill-progression system.
- Increase functionality for interactive furniture.
- Add dynamic hazards, such as unattended stoves causing potential kitchen fires.
- Broaden career-related gameplay and refine toddler interactions.
- Ensure the Expectations system triggers only under relevant circumstances.
Autonomy & Relationships
- Strengthen autonomy-based personality traits.
- Introduce the ability for characters to stay overnight at others’ homes.
- Expand romantic interactions and family storytelling depth.
- Enable NPCs to approach and interact with players more organically.
Developing this title has been a unique endeavor. Creating a game in tandem with our community is a journey I hold dear; it’s a topic I often share with my own son.
I see the messages from those of you concerned about our progress—thank you for your genuine kindness. Right now, I am crafting the game I have always dreamed of building. While there is always a risk that things may not go exactly as planned, I’ve realized that “failure” isn’t the right perspective. As a favorite book of mine once stated:
“We suffer because of the standards we create for ourselves.”
Life doesn’t exist to prove it can meet a specific benchmark; it exists to be experienced. Once I embraced that, the pressures that once weighed on me began to lift. Please keep sharing your thoughts with us—we are listening with total sincerity.
