The creators of the looter-shooter have returned with an extensive reply to community feedback.
The Destiny: Rising team released a long message to players, acknowledging that the current energy mechanic (Pinnacle Energy) needs a substantial overhaul.
What the developers intended as a way to level the playing field—so that time spent in-game wouldn’t determine a player’s opportunities—has in practice become an artificial limiter on progression and a frequent source of contention within the community.
The studio vows to rework Pinnacle Energy, but cautions it will take time: the revamped system is expected to arrive with the first major patch in early 2026.
In addition, the studio confirmed Destiny Rising will receive two large updates each year. The first update will introduce a new location, continue the main campaign, and bring fresh challenges to the Gauntlet: Onslaught mode. Players will also see extra activities, refreshed season content, and improved weapon and artifact systems.
The developers also outlined their plans for the coming months. In the latter half of the current season, a major update for the Shifting Gates mode will arrive, alongside three new arenas for Gauntlet: Blitz.
A themed Dawning event is planned for the winter holidays, and in January the third season will launch—headlined by a new tower-defense–style mode that the team has been working on for several months.
They additionally teased a “secret update” designed to be a special treat for longtime fans of the series.
Between seasons, Destiny Rising will continue to host limited-time events. The Festival of the Lost is currently running, with a PvP event and further activities slated to appear soon. To help players plan, the studio intends to publish a monthly event calendar with precise dates.
