Congratulations are in order for Demi Lovato and musician Jordan “Jutes” Lutes, who got engaged over the weekend.
The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer took to Instagram on Sunday (Dec. 17) to share the exciting news with their 157 million followers.
“I’m still speechless,” Lovato, 31, wrote alongside a photo of the engagement ring. “Last night was the best night of my life and I can’t believe I get to marry the love of my life @jutesmusic.”
They continued, “My love, I’m beyond excited to marry you.. every day I’ve spent with you has been a dream come true and I can’t wait to love and cherish you forever. Here’s to the rest of our lives. I love you baby.”
Jutes, 32, shared similar sentiments on his own Instagram page, calling himself “the luckiest man alive.”
“yesterday i asked my best friend to marry me and she said yes,” the songwriter wrote alongside the same snapshots. “i can’t imagine my life without you and thank god now i’ll never have to. feeling like the luckiest man alive right now. i’m so in love with you
The couple made their relationship Instagram official in August 2022. Lovato’s relationship with Jutes marks their first public romance since breaking off their engagement to actor Max Ehrich in September 2020.
Jutes helped write multiple songs on Lovato’s most recent album, Holy Fvck, including second single “Substance” as well as “Happy Ending” and “City of Angels.”
In September, Lovato told Howard Stern that she and Jutes have definitely discussed marriage.
“It’s been about a year and a half [of dating], so we’re taking our time with it a little bit, you know? I think it’s important not to rush that,” they said. “We started off as friends, and we built that foundation of friendship first. There’s this partnership there that is just so magnetic, and the way that we laugh together — it’s just nonstop.”
Lovato also confirmed that they “definitely” want children with Jutes, and that the artist helped them heal their longtime daddy issues.
“I can say with confidence that my daddy issues aren’t anything that are inside of me anymore,” the star explained. “I think there’s a few signs to that. I’m with a partner that is my age, essentially. I look back on the past [of dating older men] and think ‘that’s gross.’”
