Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round and New Project Announcement

It has been nearly seven years since the fighting game community last saw a mainline Dead or Alive entry, leaving fans eager for a revival. That hiatus officially ended during today’s State of Play showcase. Team Ninja confirmed that the franchise is returning to the spotlight with two major reveals: Dead or Alive 6 Last Round, an enhanced remaster for the PlayStation 5, and the first glimpse of an entirely new project currently in development.

Positioned as the “definitive experience” of the sixth installment, Last Round brings the high-octane combat to current-gen hardware. Beyond the visual leap on PS5, this version integrates various DLC characters into the base roster and promises a roadmap of future fighters and costumes. For those curious but not ready to commit, a free-to-play version will also launch simultaneously on June 25, though specific limitations for the trial version have yet to be detailed.

Following the gameplay reveal, series producer Yosuke Hayashi unveiled a cryptic teaser for the franchise’s future. While it stops short of being officially titled Dead or Alive 7, the “Dead or Alive New Project” is clearly intended to celebrate the series’ upcoming 30th anniversary in 2026. This duo of releases signifies a major effort by Team Ninja to honor three decades of the iconic fighting series.
