Daft Punk’s New Music Video Is Basically Their Fortnite Event
Although Daft Punk have stayed firm in their decision to part ways, fans have nonetheless enjoyed a banner year — particularly players of Fortnite. In September the game received The Daft Punk Experience: a bespoke island that propels players through a vivid audiovisual journey before depositing them on a stage to watch Fortnite’s stylized versions of the duo perform. The launch included a themed bundle with outfits, Jack Tracks, and additional cosmetic items.
That partnership has now deepened with a new music video for the track “Contact,” a centerpiece of The Daft Punk Experience. The video—created in collaboration with Epic Games—takes the island’s design as its foundation and translates that in-game spectacle into a polished, cinematic presentation.
Studio Magnopus, which led the production, published a project breakdown explaining how the collaboration unfolded. Epic supplied the source assets and creative guidance that enabled Magnopus to produce a high-quality final render, refining lighting, camera work, and visual effects to better suit a cinematic format. Magnopus also worked closely with Daft Life, the band’s company, to ensure the finished piece honored the duo’s artistic intentions. The result is a near-photoreal recreation of the Fortnite Experience with the pair themselves traversing it — a visually striking piece that will likely draw players back to the island or prompt newcomers to check it out.
It’s worth noting this is a new video, not a new composition: “Contact” originally closed Daft Punk’s fourth album, Random Access Memories (2013), the record that also features Pharrell Williams on “Get Lucky.” Earlier in 2025 the duo released another music video, this one for “Television Rules the Nation” from their 2005 album Human After All.
