Cynthia Erivo has officially proven that her stamina is as formidable as her vocal range. The multi-talented performer crushed her previous endurance records at this Sunday’s (April 26) TCS London Marathon, crossing the finish line with an impressive time of 3:21:40.
This stellar performance marks a significant improvement over her prior marathon ventures, shaving substantial time off her 2022 London Marathon finish (3:35:36) and her New York City Marathon effort (3:57:07). As she completed the course, the atmosphere turned cinematic—Erivo crossed the finish line to the soaring notes of “Defying Gravity” from her hit film Wicked.
Erivo’s journey was supported by her collaboration with Brooks Running, a partnership that celebrated her dedication to the sport. The athletic brand shared a heartfelt nod to her achievement on Instagram, noting that while every run is its own journey, today’s accomplishment was a remarkable new milestone for the star.
Balancing high-level athletics with a demanding performance schedule is no small feat. Erivo is currently starring in a rigorous one-woman stage production of Dracula on London’s West End, where she commands the stage by portraying all 23 characters. In a recent conversation with Runner’s World, she emphasized that maintaining this balance is a non-negotiable part of her routine.
“Everything starts with the run,” Erivo explained. “The schedule simply doesn’t happen if the training isn’t prioritized.”
With the marathon behind her, Erivo’s relentless work ethic continues; she is set to return to the stage for her performance in Dracula this coming Monday, April 27. The production is scheduled to run through May 30.
