Barry Manilow has cut short his return to Las Vegas, leaving the stage two songs into a performance and canceling two concerts after developing bronchitis.

The 83-year-old returned to the International Theater at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino on Thursday, Oct. 8, in what his team called a triumphant welcome-back concert following a break lasting several weeks. During Friday’s show, he stopped after two songs, reportedly telling the crowd to talk amongst yourselves, and did not return.

According to Vital Vegas, his band performed instrumentals before a voice announced over the PA system that the concert had ended, and attendees reported later receiving refund emails from Ticketmaster. Saturday’s concert was canceled entirely.

A representative for the musician and the venue told Variety that after a triumphant welcome-back concert on Thursday, Barry got hit with bronchitis and had to cancel his Friday and Saturday shows.

The illness is notable for Manilow given his medical history. In December 2025, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer discovered via scans ordered while he recovered from bronchitis, which was followed by surgery.

Health issues previously delayed the start of his Westgate residency, which was originally scheduled for February, prior to his return to the stage in the U.K. and a resumption of Vegas dates in July. In late August, he announced another pause following a demanding summer run, stating that they were pushing a little too hard. His team has not confirmed whether upcoming dates, including a scheduled Oct. 15 performance, will be affected.

As one of the most successful recording artists in history, Manilow has sold more than 85 million records globally. He earned his first Billboard Hot 100 number one with “Mandy” in 1975, followed by two more chart-toppers with “I Write the Songs” and “Looks Like We Made It,” alongside numerous adult-contemporary hits such as “Copacabana (At the Copa)” and “Can’t Smile Without You.”

He has charted more than a dozen top-40 hits on the Hot 100 and remains active on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, where his 2026 single “Once Before I Go” reached the top 10. Manilow’s Westgate residency places him among the most enduring headliners in Las Vegas, with a performance count that has surpassed Elvis Presley’s venue record.
