Critics highly praise the new House of the Dragon

Early critical reviews for the third season of House of the Dragon have surfaced ahead of its highly anticipated HBO premiere on June 21.

The series has achieved a remarkable 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, marking a franchise high. Meanwhile, on Metacritic, it currently holds a score of 77/100, surpassing the ratings of its predecessors. Critics have praised the season’s grand scale, breathtaking battle sequences, stellar performances, and its intricate narrative depth.

Set roughly a century before the events of Game of Thrones, the show chronicles the brutal power struggle within the Targaryen dynasty as they vie for control of the Iron Throne.

The cast features Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, and Olivia Cooke, among others. The series was developed by Ryan Condal (Rampage), with author George R.R. Martin serving as an executive producer. HBO has already officially greenlit a fourth season, which is set to serve as the series finale.
