Creator of ‘Monsters’ anthology reveals plans for 10 seasons

Ian Brennan, the creative force behind Netflix’s Monster anthology series, has revealed that he envisions a long-term future for the franchise, potentially spanning as many as ten seasons. He shared these insights during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

The upcoming fourth installment of the series will center on Lizzie Borden, the woman famously accused of the 1892 murders of her father and stepmother. Brennan noted that while the production team had initially explored the case of Luigi Mangione, they ultimately gravitated toward the Borden narrative. He emphasized that the selection process for each season is guided not just by the notoriety of the subjects, but by the story’s capacity to examine broader cultural implications.

Brennan further explained that the creative team is already mapping out concepts for future seasons. The writers aim to anchor the series in true crime while ensuring each iteration offers a unique perspective, moving beyond mere procedural reenactments. This commitment to thematic depth is precisely why the creators view Monster as a sprawling, long-form anthology capable of reaching a ten-season run.
