Cookie Monster Releases Chappell Roan Parody Video Titled Got to Go Potty for Sesame Street

The Sesame Street crew released a music video on Wednesday (Sept. 16) for “Got to Go,” which is a playful parody of Chappell Roan’s “Hot to Go!”

Cookie Monster wears a sparkly blue outfit in the video, swapping his usual look to lead the potty-training anthem alongside Elmo and Abby Cadabby. Elmo and Abby join in for the chorus in their own shimmering blue outfits as the trio turns bathroom breaks into a musical number.

Colorful letters appear during the choreography to spell out “P-O-T-T-Y” as the characters sing along, giving young viewers a musical reminder of what to do when their bodies tell them it is time to go. The structure of Roan’s song makes the lesson function like a dance party rather than a simple tutorial.

The video is part of Sesame Street’s Parody Party, which is a seven-song collection of kid-friendly takes on recent pop hits. The album was released July 26 through Arts Music and includes Sesame Street versions of Bruno Mars’ “I Just Might,” RAYE’s “Where Is My Husband!,” HUNTR/X’s “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters, Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off,” Icona Pop’s “I Love It” and Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.”
