Academy Award nominee Colin Farrell has joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix feature Bad Bridgets.
He joins an ensemble cast that includes Emilia Jones (CODA), Alison Oliver (Saltburn), Steve Coogan, and Charlie Heaton, with Rich Peppiat (Kneecap) attached to direct.
Bad Bridgets follows two Irish immigrant sisters who travel to the United States during the 19th century in search of work. Upon arrival, they face severe systemic discrimination, with the derogatory moniker “Bridget” pinned to their demographic. The film is inspired by the non-fiction book Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women, authored by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick.
While an official release date has yet to be announced, production is slated to commence in July. Farrell recently headlined the second season of the Apple TV+ noir series Sugar and is set to reprise his role as the Penguin in the upcoming The Batman sequel, scheduled for an October 2027 premiere.
