Cody Simpson Joins Surf Lifesaving Campaign
Cody Simpson champions beach safety in national PSA

Singer-songwriter and competitive swimmer Cody Simpson is fronting a new campaign urging Australians to be ocean-aware before they head to the beach this summer.
Simpson serves as the ambassador for the Beach Passport public-safety initiative, a program launched last year in partnership between Surf Life Saving Australia and Qantas. The Beach Passport is a free, web-based safety primer designed to help people recognise hazards, read the surf and respond safely.
Organizers report that more than 37,000 people completed the course during its inaugural season, and the program is promoted as a quick, practical way to reduce risk along busy coastlines.
Simpson, who grew up on the Gold Coast, says surf lifesavers have always been integral to local beach culture and praises their quiet dedication to keeping beachgoers safe.
The Beach Passport takes roughly 15 minutes to finish and provides straightforward guidance that could make the difference in an emergency.
Simpson has long been involved with surf lifesaving at a grassroots level through his local Northcliffe Surf Club. He also competes at a high level in the pool — he earned gold as part of Australia’s men’s 4x100m freestyle relay at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
After narrowly missing selection for the individual 100m butterfly and freestyle spots for the Paris 2024 Olympic team, Simpson shifted focus to creative projects: he published his first children’s book, The Sea In Me, and is developing other ventures, including the sustainable apparel label Prince Neptune.
