PlayStation Portal Gains Full Cloud Streaming Support for PS5 Games
PlayStation has expanded cloud streaming on the PlayStation Portal, enabling PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers to stream compatible PS5 titles directly from Sony’s servers without linking the device to a personal console. Beginning November 5, 2025, eligible subscribers can connect a Portal to a Wi‑Fi network and access thousands of games through the cloud.
The rollout includes popular releases such as Astro Bot, Borderlands 4, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Fortnite, Ghost of Yōtei, and Grand Theft Auto V, among many others. The full catalog of cloud‑streamable games is maintained on PlayStation’s site for reference.
Cloud streaming will serve both games you already own in your PS5 library and compatible entries from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classics Catalog. As Sony notes, the feature makes it easier to play PS5 titles away from home — whether you’re at a hotel, a café, or a friend’s house — because you no longer need your console to be powered on or exclusively available.
In addition to cloud access, this update brings a refreshed Portal interface: separate home screens for Remote Play and Cloud Streaming, plus an improved search experience. A preview of the new UI is included below.
The update also adds 3D Audio support for both Remote Play and cloud streaming on compatible games. To take advantage of spatial audio, you must use a wired headset or a PlayStation Link‑enabled accessory such as the Pulse Explore earbuds or Pulse Elite headset. Other additions include a passcode lock for device security and a network status display to help diagnose connection issues.
When streaming from the cloud, users will retain access to in‑game stores and transactions, accessibility settings, and social features like game invitations — providing a near-native experience even when the PS5 is not directly connected.
