“Class of ’09” Starring Rooney and Kate Mara to be Released in Russia
The distributor Paradise has acquired the Russian rights to Bucking Fastard, a new comedy directed by the legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog. The film is set to hold its world premiere as part of the main competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.
The film marks the first onscreen collaboration between Rooney and Kate Mara, who portray sisters Jean and John Holbrook. In a quirky twist, the siblings speak in perfect unison and find themselves infatuated with the same man, played by Orlando Bloom. Their obsession quickly spirals out of control, landing them in legal trouble.
An official release date will be announced in the near future. Herzog, who also penned the screenplay, based the narrative on the true story of Freda and Greta Chaplin, who resided in the United Kingdom during the 1980s. A debut clip from the production has also been released.
