Following a series of cryptic teasers, Square Enix has officially unveiled the next chapter in its beloved narrative franchise: Life is Strange: Reunion. In a move that is sure to thrill long-time fans, the upcoming title features the return of Max Caulfield alongside her iconic partner-in-crime, Chloe Price.
Developed by Deck Nine, Reunion serves as a direct narrative successor to 2024’s Life is Strange: Double Exposure. The story returns to the hallowed halls of Caledon University, which has been engulfed by a catastrophic and enigmatic inferno. While Max manages to survive the disaster by utilizing her signature time-rewind abilities, she finds herself the sole survivor of a tragedy that claims the lives of her peers, friends, and faculty.
Driven by grief and a need for answers, Max utilizes a selfie to “jump” back three days into the past. With a ticking clock, she must investigate the origins of the blaze to prevent the school’s destruction. However, the timeline has become increasingly fragile. Due to Max’s reality-warping choices in Double Exposure, Chloe Price manifests at Caledon University, haunted by fragmented memories of a life she never experienced. Together, the duo must navigate these temporal anomalies to save their future.
Gameplay in Reunion offers a dual-perspective experience, allowing players to alternate between Max and Chloe. Max continues to master her four-dimensional puzzle-solving skills, using time manipulation to alter the environment and revise critical decisions. Chloe, meanwhile, brings back the “Backtalk” mechanic first seen in Before the Storm. Her razor-sharp wit and rebellious attitude allow her to bypass social barriers and extract information that the more reserved Max cannot. Deck Nine has positioned this entry as the definitive culmination of the Max and Chloe saga.
