Trade outlets have corroborated a report about actress Dakota Johnson preparing her first film as a director. The picture is titled A Tree Is Blue (translated as “A Tree Is Blue”).
The project is said to feature singer Charli XCX and Jessica Alba. The screenplay was written by Vanessa Berghardt (known for In the Rhythm of Cha-Cha-Cha), who is also slated to play the lead role. No official release date has been announced.
Earlier insiders claimed the story follows a young woman (portrayed by Berghardt) who is on the autism spectrum; over time her character begins to separate from an overly controlling mother (played by Johnson).
